This hike starts at the hotel and goes southwards through the mountain villages of Tvebish and Nashkol on its way to Ushkvanar where the track starts to climb carefully on cattle paths and forest roads towards the Bal-pass.  Up on Bal a magnificient view towards Latali and the Svanetian mountains with several summits above 4000 meters opens up.  The route follows steep mountain roads next to exciting farms often with impressing balconies.  The tour ends in Latali which historically has been the religious centre of Svaneti.  There are many beautiful churches here well worth a visit.  Returning to the hotel it is possible to follow the main road or order a transport that will take you the 16 kilometers back to the hotel.  It is recommended to be accompanied by an experienced mountain guide.  This can be ordered through the hotel – at the latest 1 day ahead of the tour.
